The Islamic Shura Council of Southern California is proud to name Dina Eletreby as our Muslim of the Week!
Dina’s current project that is making a positive impact in her community revolves around the New Horizon School. As Dina describes it, “Irvine launched an ambitious capital campaign in 2012 with the vision of building a state-of-the-art Upper School Campus and Community Center to serve 4th – 8th grade during the school day and to serve the entire community on evenings and weekends.”
The greatest lesson she has learned in working with her community has been the importance of cooperation among people. Dina writes, “I have learned that when many people come together for a good cause, God makes it easier for these people to achieve their goal.”
Dina’s beliefs push her further along her journey. These beliefs center around gratitude and using the gifts you’ve been given to help others. She shares, “I believe strongly in showing gratitude to God for the blessings He has bestowed upon you by serving others through those gifts. If someone is blessed with wealth, they should give generously in God’s cause. If someone is blessed with knowledge, they should use their knowledge to better their community. If someone is blessed with a talent, then they should use their talent to help and heal those around them.”
Her inspiration to serve blossoms from her faith. As she puts it, “My gratitude to God for all that He has given me. Service is my obligation and is my way of saying ‘thank you’ to God Almighty.”
For working tirelessly to aid future generations and improve her community, we name Dina Eletreby as our newest Muslim of the Week.
