Imad Bayoun

The Islamic Shura Council of Southern California is pleased to name Imad Bayoun as our Muslim of the Week!
Imad Bayoun is a educational lecturer for the Muslim American Society, as well as the Insectary and Quarantine Officer at the Entomology Department of University of California in Riverside. Regarding lessons he has learned in working with the Muslim community, Imad revealed, “You need to prioritize. When you are faced with many obligations but have little time available, you have no choice but to prioritize and maybe multi-task. Priorities obviously change from time to time, and from person to person. And a very important thing we tend to ignore in the middle of our involvements is our heart and connection with Allah. This is where all the energy comes from.”
Bayoun was born in Beirut, Lebanon with a childhood filled with the chaos of civil war. He graduated with his BS and MS from the American University of Beirut. He then went on to earn a PhD in Entomology from Texas A&M and a PhD in Islamic Studies from the Graduate Theological Foundation.
Observing the positive impact of his work has continued to inspire Imad. As he puts it, “Seeing the importance of this work and trying to make a difference in other people’s life, however small it might be. It just affirms you in what you’re doing.”
For his devotion to educating himself and, more importantly, his community, Imad Bayoun is our newest Muslim of the Week.
