The Islamic Shura Council of Southern California is proud to name Nana Firman as our Muslim of the Week!
Nana Firman is best known for her work with the WWF – Indonesia. There, she helped direct the recovery efforts after the 2004 earthquake and tsunami. Currently, Nana acts as the Muslim Outreach Director for GreenFaith. GreenFaith “inspires, educates, organizes, and mobilizes people of diverse religious and spiritual backgrounds globally for environmental action,” according to their mission statement.
Nana Firman shows continued commitment toward helping our environment and bringing the issue of climate change to the forefront of issues that need addressing. As part of GreenFaith, she works to bring about action in response to climate change. She believes that this issue facing the globe can help bring people together.
Nana Firman is from Indonesia but now lives in Southern California, taking her amazing beliefs and ideals with her and helping bring about climate change awareness here. As she puts it, she’s a “Climate Leader trained by Hon. Al Gore, a Fellow of Leadership on Environment and Development (LEAD), an Associate of Islamic Foundation for Ecology and Environmental Sciences (IFEES), and a Fellow of GreenFaith.”
For her role in the recovery of a land rocked by natural disaster and working tirelessly to help fight climate change, we name Nana Firman as our newest Muslim of the Week.
