YSS 2024 Labor Day Retreat

The 2024 summit is focused on recontextualizing Islam through a personal lens, treating our faith as a dynamic tool that points us to “True North.” Too often, we tend to think of Islam as a stagnant checklist, a set of rules to follow and tasks to complete. In doing so we can find ourselves stripped of the capacity to develop a personal relationship with and secure commitment to Islam. Each and every one of us finds ourselves at a different place in life, with a different perspective, and a wholly unique set of experiences. So too, the way that Islam looks, feels, and ultimately manifests in each person’s life is necessarily a unique and dynamic process. How can we develop confidence and pride in our personal practice of Islam? As we and our environment continue to change and grow, how do we build the habits necessary to continually check-in with our compass and make sure we’re on the right path? Most of all, while trailblazing our own path, how do we come to not just understand, but actually nurture a sincere love for the diversity of perspectives that exist within what we know Islam to be?

We hope to tackle these and many more questions at YSS 2024, surrounded by the wisdom and role models of our community leaders, as well as the inspirational minds of our peers.
